Concentration beginnings

For my concentration I have decided to illustrate one of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories, The Cask of Amontillado. Ever since I first heard any of Poe's works I was amazed by how captivating the stores were although they were sometimes fairly morbid. As I was looking at some works of Gustave Dore, I came across his illustrations from The Raven. These illustrations gave me a new sense of what I could do with my drawings. I decided to illustrate this story of Poe's that I was most familiar with to put it into a new perspective for myself.

I have come up with a short storyboard of the story:

This is a study of the chained Fortunato in the cellar.

Awesome idea. That is one of my favorite Poe stories. Dark pictures but great idea.

It's a neat idea, and will have to be very illustrative to clarify that you are going for that particular story. I'm wondering what medium(s) you are going to use? You'll get different effects using differend mediums obviously.

Most of the compositions are the same, subjects in the middle of the page and space.
Think about more dynamic compositions (camera angle, zoom (or way off), paper orientation/size).
5 & 6 are nearly the same picture.
I like #10 as the last one a lot.
#9 Is the only one with text in it. Think about unity through all 10-12 pieces. Are they all going to have a 'graphic design' look or just that one. (Is that suppose to be the last one?)

I think most importantly you will want to capture the mood. The sinister mood through the whole story as well as the mood in each 'frame.' Message me with anymore questions or if you want me to clarify. I hope it helped and wasn't discouraging. I like it!
